A school counselor's primary duty is to help his students understand their learning blocks and guide them in overcoming these blocks. A school counselor helps the students to choose the right career path for them based on their interest and abilities. A school counselor helps the students with their mental health issues and behavioral problems. He guides them to prevent or deal with such psychosocial problems.
