An assistant professor may resign for different reasons, viz. joining another college for a better salary or higher position, temporarily not doing any job to concentrate on higher studies, ill treatment from the college staff leading to major disappointment and resignation, irregularity in salary payments, etc.
In any case, he has to furnish a written resignation letter to the principal or his reporting authority.
He will also have to serve the required advance notice. He needs to work during the notice period for the college.
