Sample Complaint Letter to Society about Lift Not Working

If you are an owner or a tenant of any of the flats of a society, then you have a right to lodge a complaint with the society committee regarding any lift malfunction.

The non-working state of the lifts causes great discomfort to the residents of the building.

Initially, you can convey the complaint orally to the society committee. If the issue is still not resolved then you can lodge the complaint formally by a written letter. You may write an email instead.

I am the owner/tenant of the property Flat No. ___, ___ Wing, ________ Society. As you are aware, the lifts of our ___ Wing building have not been working for the last few weeks. This has brought upon immense stress for the residents of ___ Wing to carry on their daily life activities.

You would appreciate it is very difficult for the people living in higher floors to climb up the stairs to reach their flats, especially while carrying things in hand. The elderly people with weak knees are facing the most hardship.

The residents of our Wing have also intimated about this inconvenience and lodged complaints regarding this a few times with the society committee members, but there is yet to be any action taken on this matter, which is utterly regrettable.

Kindly have the lift repaired at the earliest.

I am the owner/tenant of the property Flat No. ___, ___ Wing. This is to bring to your attention that the lifts in our building often stop during operations, which is not because of the electricity disconnection but must be because of some other technical reasons.

My family members and I have personally faced such issues a few times during the last couple of months. I have also been told by other occupants of our building that they have too faced such problems.

The residents of our building have also complained about this to the society committee members, but the lifts are still in hazardous condition.

Please have the lifts repaired at the earliest. Kind request to ensure the maintenance of the lifts at regular intervals.
