Some diseases are not curable in a short span of time. It may take months or years to be cured. In some unfortunate cases, these kinds of sickness may not be cured especially in diseases like cancer. However, the way science is advancing, a person should always keep his hopes high.
An employee can become gravely ill and his treatment may prolong for an indefinite period. He should intimate his employer by letter or email as soon as possible. He should seek leave for an indefinite period explaining the reasons for it.
Whether or not the employer will allow such an indefinite leave is a different issue. No human could be so unkind to a sick person in such severe cases.
Following leave letter format is for your reference.
